MY STORY

Hello!  My name is Sanjana Sethi.  I am a psychotherapist who works with children, adolescents, and families.  I’m passionate about helping young people grow, and am committed to working with them to create a supportive, engaging space where they can come into themselves emotionally, socially, and behaviorally.

I work with children and adolescents on a wide variety of issues.  Sometimes young people come to see me to work on behavioral challenges, difficulties with emotion regulation, attention-related concerns; others come for help managing Autism Spectrum Disorders or other diagnoses.

I have studied at Northwestern University and Emory University, and am fluent in English and Hindi. In addition to my psychotherapy training, I have worked as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) at Westside Children’s Therapy, where I provided Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) support to children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. I also have a background in Dance Movement Therapy and am a professional Bharatanatyam dancer.

I currently practice under the supervision of Sam Guzzardi, LCSW, a former faculty member at the Yale Child Study Center and several psychoanalytic institutes.

My Approach

Therapy That Doesn’t Feel Like “Therapy”

1. Understanding the Demands on Young Lives

Many children and adolescents navigate demanding schedules filled with academic responsibilities, extracurricular activities, school-based support services, and medical appointments. Therapy can sometimes feel like just one more obligation on an already full plate.

2. Creating a Space Where Therapy Feels Safe and Supportive

My approach to working with children and adolescents is grounded in the belief that therapy should be a space they look forward to. I strive to create an environment where clients feel deeply understood, at ease, and supported. When young people feel safe and relaxed, they are better able to engage meaningfully with their experiences and work through challenges in a way that feels manageable and empowering.

3. Engaging, Developmentally Appropriate Interventions

In sessions, I prioritize highly engaging and developmentally appropriate therapeutic approaches. Depending on a client’s needs and age, this includes play-based interventions, social skills practice, and creative, collaborative problem-solving strategies designed to foster insight, confidence, and emotional growth.

4. An Integrative, Mind–Body Perspective

Drawing from my experience as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) and Dance/Movement Therapist (DMT), I bring an awareness of how behavior, movement, and emotional expression are interconnected. This helps me to support children and adolescents in ways that honor verbal and nonverbal forms of communication and build self-awareness, regulation, and resilience.

Areas of Focus

Supporting Children through Collaboration

Supporting children effectively requires both a strong therapeutic relationship and thoughtful collaboration with the adults and systems in their lives. My work is guided by the understanding that meaningful change happens when children feel safe and supported in therapy, and when the important people around them are engaged in the process.

Building Strong Therapeutic Relationships

I prioritize developing trusting, respectful relationships with the children and adolescents I work with. Therapy is most effective when young people feel understood and emotionally safe. I take time to connect with each child at their own pace, creating a space where they can express themselves openly—through words, play, movement, or creativity.

SERVICES

I value collaboration with families, schools, and care providers, and I strive to offer thoughtful, individualized care that complements the broader support systems in a child’s life.
